Randy Taran
A Brief History
Project Happiness began as a film project. After the cameras stopped rolling, Randy Taran founded Project Happiness a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to bring students and participants together and reflect on the extraordinary journey they had just completed. The goal was to make happiness possible for all. The outcome was a 195 page student handbook with over 70 exercises for kids by kids. A facilitator’s guide was added to enhance the student handbook and together these became the Project Happiness Curriculum and it is transforming lives.
The curriculum is being used in many settings; an affluent high school in Silicon Valley devastated by 3 suicides in just the past year, in an elementary school in San Francisco’s gang-war epicenter, and in international cites like Nepal, Guatemala, India and Nigeria. Over 1,500 students across the globe are learning to use compassion & kindness in conjunction with math & science to shape a happier healthier future.
