The Happiness Movement

Make your own declaration of happiness: take our I Declare Happiness survey and join the movement!
Everyone deserves to be happy. No matter what background, country or religion, we all want the same thing – to be happy. If happiness is our birthright (I don’t think we were put on this earth to be miserable, but rather to be happy) and if it’s even in the US Constitution, then how do we go from longing for happiness to creating more of it? If you look at the amount of books on happiness that are popping up and the number of conferences around the world, it’s clear that people are sick and tired of dwelling on the negative and succumbing to a fear-based outlook. People want hope and more meaning in their lives, especially as the economic downturn highlights the mirage of materialism. People want to reconnect with something greater than themselves, however that is personally defined… also to connect with a community. There is an upsurge in volunteerism, even as paychecks are shrinking. People are waking up and wanting more. There’s a new sense that happiness is more real when it comes from within. No one can define your own path to happiness – it is a personal journey.
Project Happiness is at the forefront of this movement. On the website, check out the “Seven Doors to Happiness” to embark on your own personal journey. It can change how you look at life forever and give you more freedom in your mind and heart.
We have a documentary film for a reason – to show how we are all connected and to tell a story of the quest for happiness. We are in schools for a reason – that is to reach young people before they get sucked into a life where they feel they have no choices. Happiness is a choice, maybe the most important choice there is.
We’re also doing classes for parents, because it’s not enough for kids to light up and then go back home to the same old, same old, fear-based thinking. To have a real change, it has to be systemic. Parents are an important part of the system, and they deserve to have a new perspective and practical tools to enhance their own and their families’ lives. For many, this is the very first time that they are given the freedom to consider their own happiness. And remember, happiness is not a selfish thing – indeed it can be the path to tremendous positive change. Why? Because happiness is contagious! We want to spread that around as well as hope and the idea that we are all interdependent – we depend on each other more than we may realize. If we’re all in this together, (and we are), then, with the right skills and practices, it is in our power to make the choice to have life be better, kinder and happier for everyone.
The opportunity is amazing and as we collectively shift to a new perspective, this is a tremendous time to be alive. If you resonate with this, you are invited to be part of a new way of being. You can choose happiness today. Your life is your project… Project Happiness.
